to Uganda - 2009
In May of 2009 9 people from
Temple Baptist followed God at His leading to
Uganda to Share The Blessing.
This trip had started many months
before. Our church family had recently finished
the Experiencing God study when our pastor...Randy
Jaspers woke up in the middle of the night with
words from the Lord... Share The Blessing!
So many months and many miles
later the team from Jamestown arrives in Uganda
with a fresh rainfall... a sign of blessing
for the people of Africa... a reminder to the
team that they are there to Share The Blessing!
Share the blessing, they did.
The group handed out many Bibles to individuals
and church leaders. Many who have never had
their own copy of God's word before.
The team was able to visit Units
of Hope and see what a blessing the goat
project is...first hand.
The 1st & 2nd grade Sunday
School class raised the money the previous fall
for 8 goats and pens to be purchased to help
the widows.
They shared multiple other places
in Kenya (a deaf church outside of Nairobi,
the Sinai Slums in Nairobi, among schools and
huts/homes in Nyanza province, at a new church
under an acacia tree in Maasailand). Their travels
in Uganda were in the Kumi district to two churches,
a prison, four schools, a 3-day church leadership
conference and the showing of the Jesus Film
in the Ateso language. Pastor Randy preached
four times, assisted the CMA teachers in the
3-day conference to 80+ participants and shared
in the prison and home visitations.
The team shared the good news of Jesus with
3,000 children, provided shoes for 60 children
and 20 women, multiple soccer balls, jump ropes,
athletic balls, hundreds of sticks of gum, colored
pencils, crayons, 1,000 beaded bracelets (telling
the gospel story), etc. They distributed over
400 Gideon Bibles and New Testaments, 100 wordless
books and other discipleship materials.
